Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Domino Club (the “Service,” also called “Domino”) handles personal information when you visit, practice, create an account, connect a sign-in provider, or play online.
This policy covers the Service. Google, Facebook, TikTok, Apple, and other external services have their own privacy policies for information they handle independently. Our Terms of Service explain the rules for using Domino.
Information we handle
- Account information. Your player name, internal account identifier, account creation time, and a hashed password if you register with a password. Player-name registration does not require an email address.
- Connected sign-in. If you choose Google, Facebook, or TikTok, we receive a provider-specific account identifier, display name, and profile-photo URL. Apple supplies an account identifier and may supply your name when you first authorize sign-in. We use these details to create or connect your account. Provider access tokens are used during sign-in and are not stored in our account database.
- Play and preferences. Your selected domino finish, table, edge, and room background; ratings, wins and losses; and completed match records, including opponent names, mode, outcome, rating changes, and time. During online play we process moves, hands, scores, room membership, matchmaking requests, and presence.
- Friends and invitations. Friend requests, accepted connections, invitation identifiers, expiry times, and table invitations. Friendship links are stored as hashes. We do not import your social-network friends or address book.
- Device and connection information. Your browser sends an IP address, request information, and browser information when connecting to a website. We use connection information to deliver the Service and limit abusive sign-in attempts. Hosting and network providers may also process request and error logs.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us, we receive your contact details, message, and any information you choose to include so we can respond.
Guest practice runs in your browser. It does not create a saved online match history for a guest, although loading the site still involves network requests and device preferences.
How we use information
We use information to create and authenticate accounts, remember your setup, run and validate games, match players, calculate ratings, show results, connect friends, deliver invitations, respond to requests, prevent abuse, and maintain the Service.
Where European or UK data protection law applies, we rely on performing our agreement with you for account and game features; our legitimate interests in security, fair play, and reliable operation for abuse prevention and troubleshooting; and legal obligations where we must keep or disclose information. Where an activity requires consent, we ask for it and you may withdraw it. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Ratings and matchmaking use game results and rating information automatically. They affect in-game competition, not decisions about credit, employment, or similar legal or significant real-world matters.
What other players can see
Your player name, avatar, rating, and game statistics can appear to other players in games, leaderboards, friend features, and match history. Friends can see your online or in-game status. Players with your exact player name can send a friend request. Someone who receives a friendship invitation link can see the inviting player’s profile details.
Your opponent sees the shared board, played tiles, and game progress. Unplayed hands are hidden during online play and may be revealed in the final result. Choose a player name and profile photo you are comfortable sharing. A social sign-in photo can make your Domino account recognizable.
Room codes and invitation links are intended to be shared with people you choose. Anyone who obtains a valid room code may be able to join the room while it has space.
Cookies & device storage
Domino uses cookies for sign-in and browser storage for features you use. The current Service does not include advertising cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics scripts.
- Account session ·
domino_session - Keeps you signed in. The cookie expires after 30 days unless you sign out or it is cleared sooner. It is HTTP-only, so the app’s browser scripts cannot read it.
- Social sign-in ·
domino_oauth_* - A temporary security cookie for Google, Facebook, TikTok, or Apple sign-in. It binds the sign-in attempt to your browser, lasts up to 10 minutes, and is cleared when the callback is processed.
- Your setup ·
domino-preferencesanddomino-target-points - Local storage remembers cosmetic choices, sound, volume, and your preferred match target. It has no automatic expiry and remains until you clear site data, delete your account on that device, or your browser removes it. Signed-in cosmetic choices are also saved to your account.
- Pending invitation ·
domino-friend-invite - Session storage preserves a friendship invitation while you sign in. It is cleared when handled or when the browser ends that tab’s session; browser session restoration can preserve it longer.
You can manage cookies and clear this site’s storage in your browser settings. Blocking the sign-in cookies prevents account features from working. Clearing device preferences resets local choices; it does not delete your account, saved results, or server-side profile.
External sign-in pages use their own cookies under their providers’ policies. Profile photos are loaded directly from the photo provider: displaying a photo sends that provider a network request, including the viewer’s IP address and browser information.
How long information stays
Account details, connected identities, preferences, friendships, and completed match records remain stored while your account is maintained, unless removed in response to a verified request or for another lawful reason. The Service does not automatically delete an account merely because it is inactive.
Account sessions expire after 30 days. Friendship invitation links stop working after seven days or when replaced. Table invitations expire when the room closes, fills, or times out. Expiration prevents use of a token or link; it does not necessarily mean the underlying database record is immediately erased.
Active games, waiting rooms, queues, and presence are temporary server state and can be lost on a server restart. Device storage follows the periods explained above. Operational logs, correspondence, and backup copies may have separate retention periods based on their purpose and the systems holding them.
Deleting your account in Settings removes your profile, credentials, connected sign-in identities, sessions, friends, invitations, saved preferences, and your personal match-history entries from the live account database. Other players keep their match results with your name replaced by “Deleted player.” Temporary game views are also stripped of your account identity. Deletion does not immediately erase independently retained operational logs or backup copies; those follow their own retention periods.
Your choices & privacy rights
You can practice as a guest, choose whether to use social sign-in, change your setup, remove friends, cancel pending friend requests, sign out, and clear device storage. You can also manage Domino’s access from your sign-in provider’s account settings. Revoking provider access or signing out does not itself delete your Domino account or its history.
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or receive a portable copy. California and other US state laws may also provide rights to know categories of information collected or disclosed and to appeal certain decisions. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
To delete your account, sign in and open Settings → Delete account. Type your player name to confirm. Password accounts also require the current password; accounts created only through a sign-in provider require a sign-in within the last ten minutes. Deletion is permanent, signs you out on every device, and forfeits an active online match. Signing in through a provider after deletion creates a new account rather than restoring your progress.
You can also use the contact details below for privacy requests or help with deletion. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify account ownership or an authorized agent’s authority. Please do not send your password in a message. We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain if a request cannot be fulfilled.
You can ask us to review a refusal by replying through the same contact channel. You may also complain to your local data protection or privacy regulator, including an EU supervisory authority or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office where applicable.
Security & international processing
We use safeguards such as password hashing, hashed session tokens, HTTP-only session cookies, and server-side validation of online moves. No website or transmission method can guarantee complete security. Keep your credentials private and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Hosting, network, and sign-in providers may process information in countries other than yours. Protections can differ by country. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the operator must use a permitted transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the locations and safeguards relevant to your data.
Children’s privacy
Domino is intended for people aged 13 or older, or the higher minimum age required by local law. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child below the applicable minimum age has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as required.
If you are below the age of legal adulthood where you live, you must have a parent or guardian’s permission to use the Service where that use is legally allowed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service or our practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. For material changes, we will provide an appropriate notice through the Service or another available channel and obtain consent where required. An updated policy does not remove rights you already have under applicable law.
